Let's we sketch a graph ;

Find the equation of the normal to y=x^2+1 at the point where x=1

First , I should find derivative of y.

That is derivative of y is 2x and f(1) is 1+1=2, the point of contact i (1,2)

Now, the tangent point at (1,2) is 2 and the tangent has equation y-2=2*x-1 which is y-2=2x-2 or y=2x

The graph of  f(x)=x^2

                     f(x)=2x
